I love this site, great for learning and connecting with others.

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I've always had birds in my life starting with Parakeets when I was about 3, then rescuing wild birds, volunteering with Tri-State Bird Rescue, and running a small avian rescue for companion birds (parrot varieties) for about 20 years, but I'm fairly new to the chicken world starting small Spring 2015 with 4 youngsters...1 ornery Bar Rock Rooster & Bar Rock hen, 2 Red Stars. Summer 2017 I went to get a few Ameracaunas, then saw they weren't exactly pictures of health, nervous wrecks with overcrowded conditions & ended up bringing 11 home, 2 are Roo's. I lost Ginger, my Red Star due to egg yolk peritonitis, and 1 Ameracauna hen shortly after bringing her home. All are doing fantastic now, are healthy, calm & sweet. I love them dearly! They always make me smile.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
14

(3) What breeds do you have?
2 Bar Rocks - Rocky Roo & Sweet Pea (hen)
1 Red Star - Lucy my funny redhead (hen)
2 Ameracauna Roos - Baron The Baritone (he's red, his crow is so low toned) & Baby Roo the sweet baby with a funny high pitch baby sounding crow, who loves being held & pet
9 Ameracauna Hens - Daisy, Buttercup, Goldey, Lil Pepper Sprout (quite a story, was totally bald & traumatized, grew in lovely black feathers, now is calm & loving), Cinnamon, Nutmeg (Nutty Meg, she's a character), Spice, Cocoa Puff, Road Runner (she is really fast)

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
Initially google searching for info to learn, this is a fantastic site!

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Art (animals are favorite subject of course), painting, watercolor & charcoal, murals, wood work, repurposing or refinishing wood furniture, veggie and flower gardening, flying Homing Pigeons for special events/fundraisers, nature walks, wildlife photography (when I am quick enough), enjoying the wonderful animals that I am blessed to have share my life

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
Construction Material Sales
Always helped animals in need of rescue, have helped many turtles in roadways
Always had German Shepherds & Rottweilers, there are some barn cats that visit often searching out mice, thinking of getting a Maine Coon cat, maybe a few goats, will be adding an Australian Shepherd or Border Collie, a pair of Sebastopol Geese, possibly a Royal Palm Turkey, still researching at this point.

PS) I posted a question under "Geese", hope I did this correctly...wondering how Sebastopols and/or Royal Palms get along with each other & chickens/roo's, I've heard they're "Peace keepers of the barnyard"
Share your Sebastopol Goose or Royal Palm Turkey experience with Chickens/Roo's...Good Peacekeepers?
