Hello from West Michigan!
I'm Jenn and I've always wanted to be a farmer.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
When I was a child my family raised meat chickens a few times. I also helped my best friend with her family's flock sometimes.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Four tiny chicks!
(3) What breeds do you have?
Sapphire splash (Liara), mystic majesty marans (Shep), sapphire gem (Ash), and sapphire olive egger I think (Kasumi).
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Chickens are one of my favorite animals, I had a blind one for a while named Peeps and since then I have always wanted to have pet/egglaying birds.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Crochet, sewing, a little drawing when I get a chance. I'm also really into gardening and I have a tiny aquarium with cherry shrimp
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
Married, with a toddler and a pomeranian. We recently moved to the country and have the space to let me live my simple farming dreams. Whenever I game online I settle down and farm in any way I can, so everyone started calling me "Jenn the simple farmer" since I pretty much only raised animals or grew crops.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
Googling something about chickens and this site came up. Stayed up way too late reading stories about people's chickens and finally decided to join so I can talk about mine too!
