Hello from a new chicken daddy!

Hello! I've just joined this community as I've been house sitting for my partner's parents in Newcastle, Australia, and one of their chickens has just hatched a chick! Hopefully more to come today. It's very exciting! I don't know a thing about raising chicks so probably gonna let the broody do her job, but any advice would be great! I'll be reading the 101 on your site before I go asking any obvious questions though.

Welcome to BYC! The best thing to do is to let the Momma do her thing but keep a close eye on the chick to make sure it looks healthy, also make sure the waterers are not deep enough for the chick to drown in, many people do not consider this and loose a chick

Welcome from New Orleans. What a sweet picture. Now that you have caught the chicken "bug", hope you find this site enlightening and entertaining. Good luck with your hatching, Just let the broody be a mom and you shouldn't have any problems. No question is foolish, they often help lots of us with new information. So ask away.
