(1) I am not new to chickens as I grew up with them but my current flock is MY first flock.

(2-3) I currently have 7 Speckled Sussex chicks with the capacity in my coop to go up to 15. Probably just going to stick with the 7 for now.

(4) I first found BYC while conducting a Google search trying to find information on raising chicks. This task had always been done by my parents and I just got to play with them! I started by trolling around the posts looking for what I needed, then decided to join because we all have one thing in common. Our love for fowl things :cd. It seems like a great forum and I am happy to be with you and I also look forward to learning from all the people with much more experience than I!

(5) Other hobbies include camping, fishing, hiking, sugaring, spartan racing; basically, anything that can be done outdoors! All these activities are done with my family and we have an amazing time.

(6) I am a carpenter by trade but am now a Facilities Director in a NYC College. My wife and I have 3 kids; 7 YO girl, 5 YO boy, and a 3 YO girl. We have 2 dogs, a chihuahua/dachshund mix and a Brittany spaniel. Both are just great pets.

Glad to be here and look forward to learning! I hope to be able to contribute one day! Thanks for reading... Have a wonderful day!

Welcome!

Thank you for a lovely introduction; nice to meet you.

You might want to also pop in and say hello on your local thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/26/where-am-i-where-are-you ‘Find your State’s thread.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out

I am ashamed to say I purchased my first coop :th. My rationale was that once I fully understand what the ladies need and what accoutrements would make my life easier, then I would build the "Taj-Ma-coop." I figure I am only going to get 1 or 2 seasons from this TSC coop so I have a 1 or 2 year learning curve to settle into.
