That's an interesting point, I hadn't considered that. I'm not too bothered with what breed they are for now, I'm just happy to have some feathered friends for now, and hopefully some eggs eventually. I was just floored by the hairdo and extra toe and thought it would be cool to dig a little deeper. I'll see if the dad is feeling photogenic when he comes to roost by the house next time, he and his brother were dropped off by a friend to be used for dog food about a year ago but they got lucky and escaped.Hiya, and welcome to BYC!!
We have pure silkies here but the mixes before still had 5 toes, a hairdo, and feathered feet. The one I saw I think you're talking about I doubt is a silky, not just because no feathers on the feet or legs but because it's got longer legs than silkies have too. They toddle around pretty close to the ground.
