Had to chase the goats out of the chicken coop, so here's some pics of the rest of the flock. You can see the extra toe on the Cockerel on top of the rubbish can

We have pure silkies here but the mixes before still had 5 toes, a hairdo, and feathered feet. The one I saw I think you're talking about I doubt is a silky, not just because no feathers on the feet or legs but because it's got longer legs than silkies have too. They toddle around pretty close to the ground.

That's an interesting point, I hadn't considered that. I'm not too bothered with what breed they are for now, I'm just happy to have some feathered friends for now, and hopefully some eggs eventually. I was just floored by the hairdo and extra toe and thought it would be cool to dig a little deeper. I'll see if the dad is feeling photogenic when he comes to roost by the house next time, he and his brother were dropped off by a friend to be used for dog food about a year ago but they got lucky and escaped.
