(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Brand new. Grew up (partly) in the Hill Country on a ranch, so horses and cows I know. We never had chickens.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
8 7-week old girls.
(3) What breeds do you have?
4 Easter Eggers; 1 Buff Orpington; 1 Lavendar Orpington, 1 Cream Legbar, and 1 Cuckoo Maran.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
So far - they are just hilarious. Absolutely love watching them.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Love to cook/bake, but that's not really a hobby. Love to read, quilt, stitch, sketch, do ink drawings.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
My six-word memoir: Wearing black, covered in dog hair. Golden retrievers, long-haired dachshunds, and a 33 year old African Grey parrot.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
BYC is the first thing that comes up on the google, and the most consistent source of great answers. I truly appreciate this site, and consult it often. I joined a bit back, but am finally introducing myself because I am playing hooky, and very happy about it.
