Hi there,

I am always on here looking, so thought I'd join. Backyarder.

Always had Sussex hens, recently purchased my first Brahma Rooster (and 2 hens because they were there and for sale...) Totally besotted with my boy and the brahma girls. Sussex are beautiful, but there is something special in the Brahmas.

Hatching my first lot of eggs, very nervous. fingers crossed. :)

I don't know where to start...lol. I did live in Ohio for 6 months and there were a lot of questions then too, mainly thought we didn't have electricity, and I may have misled a few well meaning cowboys, (we don't really spend nights hunting wombats with lanterns.....) Emu farming is a business in Australia, they are really big birds, they can hurt you, so specialist systems (fencing etc) are required to farm them. We don't have salt water tanks, just fresh. :)

Edited to say: I think you do need some sort of license. Depending on the state or territory, some places have land space requirements for pets, I think. They scare me and I leave them alone. There's a few wild ones not far from here.
