Hi everyone!! My name is Le. I would like to start raising a few chickens in my backyard but I'm not sure if it's allowed in my zone. I looked on-line and found very little and confusing information. I called and left messages to many people so hopefully I'll find out soon. If you have any information, I would greatly appreciate it!!

Thank you for the quick response, TwoCrows!! I just called the city hall and they transferred me to the Animal Control Department. They told me that "It's absolutely not allowed!" I'm not sure if he's correct so I'm still waiting for the others to call and email me back. Thanks for your help.
 
Oh No!! That is not good. If it really boils down to you not being able to keep chickens and you have tried everything to get them to change these laws, you could always consider a house chicken! I know, sounds crazy but LOTS of members here on BYC keep chickens inside the house for many reasons. Some wear diapers, some don't. Some of these birds hop into bed with them and they are really an enjoyable pet to keep indoors! Thank you, everyone!! You guys are great! 6of6chicks, I saw that but I when I looked at this http://www.bostonredevelopmentauthority.org/getattachment/4d013882-a5cc-4f2e-bc88-2a0fc3072ab6 I got more confused. It seems like "allowed" means only in certain areas, which are probably 1% of the whole city of Boston. I live in the pink area, which is "forbidden!" I still haven't heard from anyone yet and I'm still hopeful! I will keep you all posted. Thanks again!
