ValerieJ - I'd never even think about giving my kitties away! They're basically the essence of my being. The dog we're taking as well, even though I don't like her as much(all puppies are annoying, but I know she'll grow out of it). Dogs and cats are basically the only pets that most airlines and countries specify rules about

I'm so happy about that!!! Start saving your pennies. I don't know about Africa, but taking my two cats to Iceland with us meant a 6 week quarantine, which we had to pay for. All in all it cost us more than $2,000 to move two cats. Much cheaper to bring them back to USA, basically just air fare.
