I checked out your BYC website. Love the coop. We found the same situation where we started with a small hen house with external nest boxes and a run. Once my 6 foot 4 son stood came home from football practice and we realized he could see OVER the beams for the roof, we had to add a peak roof. Of course there are a few cross members he hits everytime he walks in the coop!
Then we adopted a Polish hen, Polly, on Mother's Day and found out all the other girls picked on her lovely blue and white crest. (I think they are secretly jealous!
) My wonderful husband started adding a seperate hen house and run three foot wide attached to the original coop. Seems it never ends. Now it houses two Frizzles (Marshmellow & Snowflake) and soon the two Silkies will be joining them! Thank goodness we have an acre to expand!
