My name is Jessica, I'm a wife, mother of 4 kids, and a RN. Previous to getting our chicks, all of our animals were inside pets. We have two large dogs, a cat, a Leopard Gecko, and two aquariums of fish.

We are totally new to chickens, although we have wanted them for years. I have had chicks for about 3 weeks now, and have done plenty of reading and researching on this site since I got them! It just took me a while to get my intro submitted.

Long story short, we had a list of breeds we wanted, and the store fumbled our order not once, not twice, but three times. The result is that we have chicks ranging from 1 week to 3.5/4 weeks old. Which I am quickly realizing is not ideal.

I am not super tech savvy, and cannot get pics to load from my phone. Hopefully I can add them later. The breeds we have are: BO, EE, GLW, SLW, Welsummer, Silkies, Sapphire Gems, Polish, and a Sienna Star.

Super happy to have found such an informative resource with such friendly people!

Hello!

Super adorable chicks! Your post caught my eye because I am also living in Central Illinois. I hope you enjoy keeping chickens as much as I do. You have gotten some of my favorite breeds in your mix. Silkies are just adorable and every buff orpington I have had follows me around my yard like a puppy. They are just so friendly! Enjoy your chickens and keep us updated on their progress! :)
