Tending to my chickens
Hi! I started raising chickens in april of last year. I now keep 12 chickens and 3 LOUD ducks. Once I started to raise my own chickens, I just sorta got attached to them. I have EEs, Rhode Island Reds, Plymoth Rocks, and one Jersey Giant. They are all filled with personality! We have two girl ducks and one drake. They sure are loud! I was wondering, when do most ducks lay and how big (in comparison) are duck eggs?

Hi and :welcome

I know nothing about ducks, but you should post some of your Q's in the Ducks section in other backyard poultry. I can imagine the eggs would be pretty big compared to chook eggs, but don't take my word for it. (Just from what I've seen at the farm.)

Don't hesitate to ask any questions you might have, and enjoy the site. :D

from Alabama. Glad you joined us. Most ducks lay early in the morning. Ours are usually through for the day by 7-8 am. And their eggs are larger and richer than chicken eggs. I bake a lot and usually use one less egg than a recipe calls for when using duck eggs.
