Hey,

I have been reading here for a while and also asked some questions. But i should probably introduce myself aswell :D
I live in Denmark but i´m actually from Belgium. I live together with my husband, our 2 children, 2 dogs and 2 guineas pigs. We had been talking about getting some chickens ever since we moved to a house with garden. And last month i bought myself 5 brahmas.
One of them was a lot smaller then the others, and that one has been ill for the last 2 weeks. I made a thread about that, but i got not much answers sadly. She is really not getting any better and i think she will die soon. I could offcours go to a veterinary but those are really expensive, and i can buy minimum 20 new chickens for the price of one consult.
The other 4, i also made a thread about as i´m afraid that at least 3 of them are cockerels. SO we got a bit a rough start with the chicken holding, but i´m not giving up! :D

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! Sorry to hear you have had trouble with your first flock of chickens. How old are they? I'm afraid that sometimes chicks just fail to thrive when they are young. It is a downside of keeping them I'm afraid. Fingers crossed you dont have 3 boys.

Good luck for the future and enjoy BYC :frow

Hi and welcome to BYC - great to have you join us. Sorry to hear about your troubles with one of your new flock. For what its worth, vets are not an option for me due to relative costs of consultancy fees and treatment - you are not alone. Good to hear that you are still positive about things - keeping chickens is a great hobby.

Best wishes

please post clear photos of the birds you have at "what breed or gender is this." they will let you know what you have. Sorry for the ill chick. I used to raise dogs when I was young and always fell apart over losing a puppy.
