Hello everyone, just introducing myself.

I'm Dennis and that pic is my 2 year old boy meeting his very first chicken for the first time.

When I was younger I had a small flock of 8 RIR hens and a rooster.

It's been years and after going back forth on this and that, although not the breed I made my mind up on, I bought 6 chicks home yesterday.

I went out to "get gas" and "accidentally" came home with 6 chicks!

I had decided on Australorps, but when there's RIR/white rock crosses down the road for $3, why not?

My desire to have chickens again was mildly frowned upon, but when I brought those cute little things inside and the boss saw my boys face light up and saw these little orange puff balls, the deal was sealed.

Wasn't long before she was asking to hold them and taking pictures.

I didn't lie, I did get gas :p

Nice to meet you Dennis. You have a handsome little boy and a pretty fluffy butt chick. Welcome to Backyard chickens. Have you visited the Learning Center, it's a great place to start a chicken education or re-fresh a former one.

Thank you so much, he's an absolute animal, but those looks of his get him out of a lot of trouble.

No I haven't read anything in particular yet, just bouncing around from this to that.

That gentle pure coming from the brooder says I'm doing okay so far.

Welcome to BYC, Dennis. Glad you decided join our flock. Your son is certainly handsome. Raising chickens is a wonderful experience for children. My granddaughter (pictured in my avatar) loves our chickens. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your chicks.

Thank you for the warm welcome everyone, :)
