I'm also in East TN, welcome! Like @N F C said, return on investment with chickens is, err, minimal, unless you get some huge operation going. Your best bet is to just enjoy your girls and their eggs.

New member here from Tennessee. When I was young my family raised chickens but that was long ago. Now that I have some property and time to work the farm, we are starting our adventure of raising chickens as well as other animals.

We currently have 16 chickens and 10 guineas and we have plans on growing those numbers.

The property has an old chicken coop that I will need to expand and update.

I would like to hear everyone’s stories, experience and ideas on how to get a good return on investment.

Welcome to the forum! There are some very wise people on here that can help you out when needed. Return on investment! My DH says we are up to around $50/dozen eggs if we are to get any return at all. I agree with others here, just enjoy the heck out of your poultry, they are good for your soul, and eat lots of eggs!!!
