Hi, I'm Gwyn. I'm 26, from Warwickshire. I work in a shop, it's boring. In my free time I enjoy self-teaching creative things and making a bit of side-money from them.

- Programming, focusing on online games and genetic calculators. Currently learning chicken genetics, with the aim of making a super-realistic visual calculator, like Kippenjungle's one, but with large dynamic image layers that accurately show each body part's colour and marking, instead of thousands of small, fixed 'preview' images.
- Art, mainly chickens, horses and griffins. It would be nice to make a chicken colouring book, or maybe How To Draw Chickens, with realistic anatomy. Self-publishing isn't too expensive; I just don't have the time yet!
- Recently started learning sculpture/ceramic tiles. In 2020 I look forward to expanding that, maybe starting a small business. Done a few chickeny prototypes already, of course.

My family has kept chickens since forever. All the uncles and cousins and other relatives scattered round the UK, they have chickens too. I've kept my own chickens for 8 years, have six at the moment. I dream of moving out and buying some land so they're not limited to a corner of my grandparents' garden. The price of land is utterly bonkers though. One day, one day...

Anyway, enough rambling, hello! Been lurking BYC forums for tips/advice for years, it's finally time to join. :) Looking forward to discussing creative things and maybe helping out others, though I'm still a relative newbie compared to lots of long-time enthusiasts here.

Hello, from Sunny South Florida and Welcome!
I'm new here too, currently building some coops and runs. Don't know if that's how you say it across the pond, but anyways getting started. Leghorns will be my specific variety to work with.
Since you are in the UK. Have you seen the Leghorn varieties in your country?

Thank you all so much for the warm welcome!

Meg-in-MT - haha yes, I am extremely ambitious. A dozen projects to work on, all the time.

ValerieJ - I'll post some art later. Maybe offer some portraits of others members' chickens?

MIAMI LEGHORN - sorry, I don't know anything about Leghorns... except for their relation to the Legbar breed. I think in the USA, you call the recessive white Legbars 'Frosty White' ? And hatcheries charge crazy amounts of money for them! Around here, cream and white Legbars are common.
