This website has been a godsend! I've had hens now for 18 months and what started as a bit of a random hobby with 4 hybrids has escalated into 14 hens of all sorts. Each hen has a real special place here and all are loved by the whole family. I'm currently experiencing my first broody, a Wyandotte named Doris who has decided not to move her butt from her nest box! After a week of trying to coax her out I've succumbed to purchasing 2 Pekin batam eggs for her to hatch... Fingers crossed!! She shares her coop with Daisy, another Wyandotte and two 10 week old pullets, a buff Orpington and a Brahma (who are bigger then her!!) They all get along really well and I'm just hoping (if they hatch) that the new arrivals will be ok. I have another coup that houses my other ladies right next door. It's a busy old coup and never a dull moment. My question is though... will the pullets be ok with new chicks? Will mum take good care and keep them safe? I can move her but don't really want to as She is comfy where she is, there is plenty of room plus easy access to food/water etc. I'm just unsure? Thanks!

and Welcome To BYC! Here is a nice thread on using broodys
