I actually signed up here last summer but never posted anything until this past week! I started raising chickens in the Spring of 2013 and found so much great info here! I now have 2 Buff Orpingtons, 4 Barred Rocks, 2 White Leghorns, 10 Golden Sex Links, 3 Ameraucanas, 2 Cream Legbars and a handful of "Barnyard Specials"!

Welcome to BYC! Glad you decided to join our flock. My wife and I were both raised in Texas not too far from Gainesville (Blue Ridge for her and Greenville for me). Her aunt lived all her life in Gainesville until she passed away. Do they still have the little zoo there? Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Thank you! Yes the Frank Buck Zoo is still here! We moved here two years ago and that's when my "chicken fever" started! The farm we bought had an old run down coop/run that we rebuilt. So now I use my chickens as pest control for our garden and sell extra eggs to pay for supplemental feed.
