Hello from Germany

Hello at all,

my Name is Philipp and I´m from Germany.

I found this great forum with google.

I breed diferent breeds of chickens and ducks.

In my stabels are:

Hochbrutflugenten in blueyellow(I´m soory, I don´t know the English word)

Vorwerkhühner( I don´t know the english word for this breed)

Silkies ( blacks nonbearded, whites nonbearded, lavenders bearded and chuckoos bearded)

Silkies bantams in "yellow"I think you call them sunrisesiklies

and I breed the Polish whitecrested ones, because of that my nickname.
This breeds are very rare in Germany, I love rare fowl.


I´m sorry for my bad english, but I give my best to improve it.
Please correct me, if something is completely wrong.


I hope we can talk a bit about the Silkiebreeds and the other breeds of chickens.

I´m interested in the breeds you have in the USA.


What are the rare breeds in the USA?

Do you have chuckoos Silkies in the USA? And the lavender ones?
Do you have something like an " American Standard of perfection"?
Do you know were I can buy it?

Are here any othe german peolpe?

from Wisonsin, USA. Ich lebe seit 20 Jahren in den Staaten, komme aus Frankfurt am Main. Ich habe doe ersten 16 1/2 Jahre in Florida gelebt und bin dann nach Wisconsin gezogen. Habe seit Mai chickens, 5 zur Zeit. 3 der Huehner sind Golden Laced Wyandottes, so weit ich weiss diesewurde Farbvariante in Wisconsin gezuechtet. Ich kann leider nicht mit Uebersetzung der deutschen Enten und Huehner helfen.... Your english is good though, time to switch so you can practise a bit...

I am of German decent... I talk a little German and understand alot of it. Out of practice now cuz don't have any one to talk it to any more. Still have most of my parents' family in Germany. Sure is fun meeting all these people from all over the world!

I hope we can help you with your questions and that we can learn from you as well. Please don't worry too much about your English, I'm sure we will all find a way to understand each other.

I have visited Germany though my German never got beyond polite phrases and beginning attempts to speak because the German people on the whole try so hard to speak English to visitors so the visitors are comfortable. Even if I said I wished to practice my German, they wished to show their good manners to me by speaking English! Maybe my German was too painful to listen to?

I'm thinking that the Vorwerkhühner breed you speak of is perhaps what we call Lakenvelders. I could be very wrong though, I did a google search on the German word, and got picture results that to me look like Lakenvelders. I am sure we will help to figure this out for sure!
