Hello From Haley!

Hi All! I’m Haley, of Nate and Haley’s Half Acre Homestead. My fiancé and I love our little piece of country in an otherwise highly populated area. We have chickens, rabbits, ducks, 3 dogs, and a cat! I took a break from chickens through my 20’s, but I have otherwise been raising them my whole life! First in Alaska, and now in the Portland Oregon area. Right now we have 18 chickens—1 White Leghorn, 2 Rhode Island Reds, 2 red laced Wyandotte’s, 1 golden Wyandotte, 1 grey Maran, 2 Araucanas, 1 Coco Maran, 1 Barred Rock, 1 Black Star, 5 mutts, and 1 very broody and old Andalusian mamma.

I’ve lurked around on BYC for years, picking up some great advice along the way. It’s always my first search when I encounter something I am unfamiliar with! I decided to finally join because I want to be more involved in the online community and make connections with other people in my area.

My goodness you've got quite a variety of birds at your homestead! Never limited on selection of eggs I'm sure lol. Alaska must have been quite a challenge to keep chickens! I have a friend living in Juneau Alaska and it doesn't exactly seem like the easiest place to keep chickens, so you must be quite the pro at environmental challenges lol. Anyways, good luck in your endeavors and thanks for becoming a part of the knowledge base of the coop!
