Hatching
Hi all, I've been lurking here for a while and finally decided to join in. My family just got our first chicks about 4 weeks ago. We got 3 Buff Orpingtons and 3 Black Austrolarps. Tons more fun than I expected and worried I'm going to be a victim of "chicken math" lol Anyway, thanks for such a great forum and lots of wonderful information!
Hens go broody when you don’t want them to… and won’t go broody when you do.

) Very few BYC members are immune to "chicken math." Those are both great breeds. They are both hardy, calm and gentle (my children and granddaughter made lap pets of them), and good layers of large, brown eggs. The Australorps are especially excellent layers. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your BOs and BAs.
