Hi all, I've been lurking here for a while and finally decided to join in. My family just got our first chicks about 4 weeks ago. We got 3 Buff Orpingtons and 3 Black Austrolarps. Tons more fun than I expected and worried I'm going to be a victim of "chicken math" lol Anyway, thanks for such a great forum and lots of wonderful information!

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! Many of us were lurkers before joining up, I was one for 2 years and wish I had joined sooner. Congrats on your first chicks they are great fun to raise and it's also very rewarding. It's something I enjoy very much a little too much I think.
Good luck with them and be sure to ask any questions you may have, everyone here to help and very friendly.
Enjoy BYC :frow

I'm glad you joined us.

You've picked out two very nice breeds for a first flock! Both breeds are well known for good temperaments and very good egg production. Good luck with your flock!

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided join to our flock. A lot of us were lurkers before joining.) Very few BYC members are immune to "chicken math." Those are both great breeds. They are both hardy, calm and gentle (my children and granddaughter made lap pets of them), and good layers of large, brown eggs. The Australorps are especially excellent layers. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your BOs and BAs.
