I'm fairly new to chickens, one day my youngest son said he thought it would be cool to have chickens and we thought "why not?" So I went online that very same night and bought ten chicks, five golden comets and five golden laced wyandottes. Those same chicks are now 21 weeks old and recently started laying. Since then I have added an australorp,a Rhode island red, and two blue silkies as well. We adore our chickens, honestly I'm probably a little obsessed lol. My hubby is no longer interested in coming home to my non stop chatter about what my chickens did today, so I thought I would join this forum because you guys sound like your just as crazy about chickens as I am :)

sounds like you've done a fine job raising them. Maybe when your husband realizes how good their eggs taste he'll come over to the chicken side.

I guess maybe because it's my first time with chickens and every thing is so brand, but I just can't help but get uber excited about every little thing they do! The first time I actually caught one of my hens laying I went on and on about it for hours lol!

Could you tell me how I can make my profile show a picture? I can't seem to figure it out, I keep going to edit profile but I don't see an option for setting an image?

Alright

poultry addition sounds like you got it but don't worry about the cure or the 12 steep program, just the serenity of being around people like yourself .....

Welcome to BYC! You've come to the right place for being crazy about chickens. You've got a great group of layers there. The Golden Comets are egg laying hybrid machines and the Australorp is my favorite standard breed; calm and gentle and the best layer of the standard brown egg laying breeds. Just be careful that you do not succumb to chicken math.) Good luck with your flock.

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

Yes, we are all just as nuts over chickens as you are!

To change your avatar, go to your profile and beneath that BYC chicken there is an option to replace your avatar. If you are on a mobile device of some sort, you will probably need to download a BYC app for all these options to appear. Stop by this link on mobile feedback for more info or to ask questions...https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/16183/mobile-feedback

Enjoy this new journey you are on and welcome to our flock!

Chatter away! My husband, bless his heart, supports my hobby and has been very helpful with building, etc, but just does not get how/why I can spend so much time just being with the chickens, talking about them, etc.

Greetings from Central Oregon!
