(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Very new! They came with my property. Just moved in back in October.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
5 laying hens
(3) What breeds do you have?
I have no idea. Two are bright red. Two others are dark red. One is white with some black flecks.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I love how independent they are, and getting eggs! They also help me with the compost bins.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Love to fish, garden, bake bread, and hike!
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have an indoor german longhair cat. I am a research scientist for a fish lab at a nearby university.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
Google! Was looking for help to diagnose one of my chicken's ailment.
