Hi. I am new to backyard chicken raising and I decided to join this wonderful forum. I have been lurking here, reading and learning quite a lot so I decided to join.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I am very new and got my first sets of chicks 4 weeks ago tomorrow.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I currently have 7.
(3) What breeds do you have?
Speckled Sussex, Jubilee Orpington, Crested Cream Legbar, and Splash Maran
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
The joy of seeing chicks grow up and hopefully the benefit of fresh eggs for my wife who loves eggs.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Cooking and collecting Japanese kitchen knives.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I am married with 4 kids and 2 grandkids. I am an analyst for a big medical insurance company.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I have been lurking for over a month now and decided to finally join so that I can share whatever knowledge I will pick up in the future. And hope to make some good friends along the way just like the kitchen knife forum I belong to.
