Hi there,
Jay her from Lima OH.
Picked up 3 hens and a rooster during the fall so going on about 5 or 6 months.
And they are all still alive
Have tons of questions so looking forward to learning some more info.
I think i'm doing ok so far, I'm getting 2 - 2 1/2 eggs a day.
Some days I'll get 3 once in a great while i'll only get 1 so that's where I get the 2 - 2 1/2 a day.
It's winter here now and I think I have built a decent little coop for them, they are still laying and seem happy.
Cause I go out and they are all laughing and having a good time LOL
As a wrap up note I think at 45 this is one of thee most rewarding things I have done.
I'm getting lots of satisfaction raising these birds and eating the yummy eggs
The kids have even gotten over the fact they are brown eggs not to mention my eggs are going into all the family get together meals like Thanksgiving and Christmas. Very happy to see the eggs being used and enjoyed.

Welcome To BYC! Sure sounds like you have happy chickens with 2-3 eggs a day from 3 hens in the middle of winter.
