Thanks! Lol I am actually from Chicago and moved down here two years ago to chase my southern dreams! Including backyard farming!

Smart.. much better than N IL... I am about 40 miles sw of Chicago... 4th generation on part of the family farm... not farm friendly any more. Thinking about leaving, just looking for someplace farm friendly and affordable. sunny but not humid or too dry or too hot or too cold, no hurricanes, few tornados, no earthquakes or volcanoes, .. utopia .. should be easy to find

You should check out our sister site Backyard Herds for all kinds of info on goats.

I currently only have chickens, but am hoping to add ducks and goats next spring. You'll have to keep me posted on what you learn along the way.

That’s a tall order, but I’m sure you’ll find your happy place! And hey, if you can get over the hurricanes Louisiana really is a wonderful place!

I will absolutely be checking that site out!! And hopefully entering the goat world more prepared than the duck one! Haha
I’ll be sure to keep you posted on anything I learn that will be of value! Is there a way to follow other byc members or add as friends to keep in touch?
