Salem is pretty lame about it. The entire city with the exception of 3 farms that i know of is zoned as residential and the city code says no livestock of any kind in the residential zone. i know one of the farmers though, he has about five acres right in the middle of south salem and he had 70 laying hens with a straight run of 70 more on the way!

hello all!
Thanks for all the wonderful welcomes! So excited! We got our chicks yesterday from Farm Choice in Harrisonburg va. 6 RIR, 3 americanaus and 3 barred rock! want to put pics but it says I dont have permission! oh well, Im sure someone will educate me. Anyway, they are so cute and did well in their brooder box ( custom made). I swear they are have grown already!
