Wow 20 chicks is a lot to start with, you're not messing around! Sheds make great coop conversions! I'm sure you could do it fine yourself... I built my coop from scratch all on my own while hubby was at work. Of course it took me several months to actually finish it

Nice varieties you chose... those little buggers will grow super fast and they'll be ready for the coop by 4-6 weeks old. Or do you plan to brood inside the coop? I did that the last time and it was great, but I was also trying to get them integrated with my older birds quickly and easily. Have you considered a heating plate for your chicks. It's a safer and more natural heat source, well worth the money if you plan to add more chicks in the future. Or you can build a diy version yourself, unless you plan to get a rooster and have broody mamas do the work.

We get a super muddy season in spring after all the snow melts.
I also had a huge mud problem but solved it by "borrowing this Mud Management idea and it's been working perfect all rainy winter in my chicken yard. I expect it to last at least a couple/few years before needing to amend it.
Best wishes starting your new chicken adventure!

Welcome :welcome Glad you decided to join! Years ago I converted a 8x12 wooden shed into a coop. The windows were a hair crooked and I rearranged the roosts but it worked out well for years (until the roof leaked and the base started rotting but that shed was old when I bought the house). If I can do it , having 10 thumbs, anyone can :p
