Just thought I would introduce myself, I am Mark and am from Market Bosworth in the UK. By day, I am an ICT Technician at a school and by night I am a hen enthusiast (big word for me, dont use big words often :D )

I currently have a flock of around 25-30 Warrens and 3 Bluebells that I currently use for eggs.

My grandpa kept chickens when I was little but thought i would start myself and have kept chickens now for 4-5 years.

Everyone will know this but there is nothing like a 'homemade' fresh boiled egg with runny yolk :)

I look forward to talking to you all :)

Mark

Hi :welcome Mark from Yorkshire UK

Glad you could join the flock! I too started my chicken adventure with Warrens, they were excellent egg layers very rarely missing a day. Drop by the UK thread for others who may be near to you. Here is the link https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/655508/uk-member-please-say-hi/0_20

Your right nothing like runny eggs and soldiers!!

Enjoy BYC and all the chicken chat :frow

Glad you decided to join us.

I prefer my fresh eggs hard boiled, but love runny yolks of poached eggs :)

Hi Mark, welcome to BYC!

You must get a lot of eggs with that many Warrens! I like mine as an omelette and we get a chance to do those frequently. So nice to have a pet that makes your breakfast, right?

Nice to have you here!

Hi Mark, nice to meet your. Do you sell your extra eggs? I love egg yolks, but, can't stand the whites. Don't hit me. My friend hates yolks and only eats the whites. That works out pretty well. Welcome to BYC.

Thanks all for the warm welcome, I had often googled problems i was having with my flock and always brought up useful results from this forum so thought it was best I joined :)

Yep runny eggs are the best they just taste soooo nice, but i have found its a nack to getting it just right, even found how to get microwave boiled eggs at work and successfully got them runny :) but hard or soft boiled eggs are much more nicer from home.

In response to Drumstick Diva's question, yes i do sell my eggs, have weekly buyers at work, even though they are not laying full time, still far too many for me to use at home each day, but the money they get goes straight back into feed and bedding for them.
