Hello to all! Our city just passed an ordinance that finally allows us to own backyard chickens! My family and I are very excited to start this journey. Our coop is in the building phase and we will acquire our chick's shortly after it is complete. Glad we have a great community to ask question.
Cheers to you!

If you are new to the life, you can do some great research on chickens by reading up in the Learning Center here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center
And if you'd like to chat with some fellow Michigan poultry folks, find your state thread in the link below and say hello:

Best wishes and thanks for joining BYC!

As you have already received links to some great starting points, I will just wish you all the best.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock when they arrive, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out
