I have had chickens for a couple of years

4 Lavender Orpingtons, 4 Silkies, 2 Cornish Rocks, 2 Leghorns, 6 blue laced red wyandotte eggs in the incubator (all of my adults were tragically lost in a flood but I had some of their eggs so we are hatching for the first time!), and 1 mystery chicken that we were told was a silkie but isn't!

Welcome! I'm sorry about the loss in the flood, that must have been awful.

I love wheaten terriers, they are gorgeous dogs.

No. Had them growing up and decided to get some more after about 10 years without them.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

In a long term committed relationship (No plans to marry) with my guy for past 5 years. Trying to start a family. Have 3 acres and tons of pets ranging in all sizes and with all feather, fur, and scales. I work from home and enjoy it. I love to cook and try to be as self sufficient as possible with homesteading- getting better all the time.

I got my first 8 chicks on March 26, 2016. Since then, I have expanded my flock to 22, though only 15 are still withe me. Most of them were cockerels that I could not keep, and I lost three, one to a predator, the others to an unknown cause and the other to an injury.
How many chicken do you have now? What breeds?
I currently, as said above, have 15 chickens, one rooster and fourteen hens. I have Columbian Rocks, Easter Eggers, Easter Egger Columbian Rocks, Cuckoo Marans, Wyandottes, a Dutch Bantam, and an RIR Columbian Rock.
How did you find out about BYC?
I was searching on the internet for info on Columbian Rocks. I clicked on BYC and I saw that someone said something about squatting hens and they were assuming it was defense thing. I knew it was a sign of submission and wanted to say something, so I decided to join. I have no regrets! :)
What are some of your other hobbies?
I love to read, write, crochet, paint, and draw.

I have a smooth coat, tri color, male collie named Beau. He is six months old and enjoys helping me out at the chickens. He will carry my water-hauling bucket up to the house for me. I am getting Blue Swedish ducks soon.
Welcome to BYC!

I had blue and black swedish ducks. They lay nice grey, black or very dark brown eggs usually. They are pretty skittish in my experience. I had swedes and rouens and the rouens are more common, have the mallard look and were a bigger and calmer to me.

Yes, it was really horrible. My entire, huge coop, that was up on stilts 4 feet off the ground, washed away with all of my chickens roosting in it for the night. I found the coop a mile downstream smashed to bits and wrapped around a tree. No chickens to be found. I just hope it was quick!

I am so sorry!:hugs

That is terrible. Do live close to a river or something to get washed out that bad?
No, we have a creek that runs through the back of our property. We have lived here 4 years with no issue, neighbor said the last time it flooded that bad was 17 years ago. We had no clue.
