Hello from Missouri!

How long ago was it? Puss might have gone into hiding somewhere? (more wishful thinking)
That was our hope but it has been almost 4 weeks so I have given up on him coming back. Never once in 17 years did he wander off so it would have been totally out of character for him to do so.

Cats can be strange, it isn't outside the realms of possibility that he's hiding (still), but it does seem likely that he won't be coming home. :(

My cats are getting on in years, and I hope that when they leave us, they do it in a way that doesn't leave any mystery. One of them is becoming a "bit strange", she doesn't always come inside. I hope she doesn't disappear one day. :(

So very sorry for the tragic losses. I would like to think someone found and took in, your cat. A couple of neighbors have Soft Coated Wheatons - beautiful dogs. Knew a gal in the 1970's that showed & bred them. I think her kennel name was Winter Wheat.
