Greetings, I am new to byc but I have been reading for a couple of years. About 1.5 years ago we finally purchased our homestead and started a big garden and plans for chickens. Beginning this past May we began with 6 chicks, 2 easter eggers, 2 Silver Wyandottes and 2 Buff Orpingtons. The Buffs are definitely the friendliest but I think the easter eggers are our favorites. They share a 5X12 hen house plus run with 3 guineau fowl (one of them is "pearl"). We also raised 3 ducks from ducklings, one female Indian Runner and a male/female pair of Cayuga. We hope to expand to some kind of dairy animal in the future. We are a homeschooling family of 9 in lovely NH.

Welcome to Backyard Chickens, the pulse beat of the chicken community. You may like to scroll down the forums list where among others you will find Ducks, Guineas etc. Folks there can give better advice about breed specific problems.
