Hi, I am new here, I am getting 4 Barred Rocks next month (mail ordered) I have never had chicken before.......Need all the advice I can get!!!

welcome to BYC (i don't know how they do that sign so just imagine its there) i agree that it is wonderful advice for poultry owners. i dont know much about chickens i have 6 ducks. but my mom just got 50 rode island red chickens. barred rocks they are good for eggs and to eat (but i doubt you are eating them) they are so pretty we used to have some but they never layed for us that's only because they were line bred ( which means the rooster was bred down to many generations ) I'm just wondering what are you getting yours for eggs,pets.????
