See how it goes - if the chickens are gentle and calm your other half my feel braver around them. Otherwise I would have said to get started with chicks. They are so darn cute and harmless it's a lot easier to warm up to them. Then as they grow chick & human are used to each other. It can be daunting to come face to face with a full grown chicken. Like people might be afraid of Great Danes but, if they get one as a wee puppy -no problem.

Hi all, just an update.

Henrietta & Onion have settled in well! They're very happy chickens and they're feathers are coming back through.
Henrietta is far more affectionate than Onion, she'll always come and say hello for a cuddle, whereas Onion would rather run off!
But they're very friendly once under control!

Onion being the bigger of the two she's far more naughty and tends to spend more time in my flowers than out of them! But is getting better.

They're lovely girls and lay lovely light brown eggs, we've recently had quite a few cat problems, with a rental moving in opposite our garden. They're very playful grey cat, which I think is quite young has jumped on top of the runs roof a couple of times. As our run is made out of 99% recycled materials we managed to fix a loose nail with a hammer and a cable tie!

Needless to say I wouldn't swap my girls for the world, even my partner is enjoying them now, and can almost pick them up...with gloves on!
