I am new to raising chickens, I have been lurking on the site for a while and decided to join. My husband talked me into getting chickens and now I am in love with them. We have a small little variety and flock. 4 wyandotts, 2 comets, 1 RR cockerel, 4 black australorps (hens), 4 silkies, 2 cochins (pullet and cockerel) and just yesterday a standard or giant buff cochin cockerel and BB red OEG cockerel. The last one I just had to have <---

Hello... how fun! How much room do you have/ how large is the chicken area? We have not started raising chickens yet, but are moving to an acre and a half of land this summer, so I cannot wait to begin our chicken family! I loved reading your thread and it made me really want June to get here!!

we have a little over an acre. We have 3 separate areas for the chickens. the wyandots and comets are with the RR cocker 4x6 coop and plus the run. the black Australorp pullets are with the standard Cochin and BB red OEGB. they have a chicken tractor. We still have the silkies and the bantam Cochins in a large brooder. ..im ready for their space to be ready as well lol.

Once you get started you probably will not be able to STOP :-)

thanks for the warm welcome!!

I Spent some time socializing with the chickens this afternoon, they are a riot!

Hoping the new OEGB will settle on in soon so I Can let him out of the run :)
