Still trying to select a breed that I'd like but I'm looking at Delaware because I've read they are good layers and quiet.

Hello Laura!

I'm new to BYC as well. Just thought I'd drop you a line to let you know you aren't the only one!

Hi Laura, I am in Central Illinois, about 55 miles East of St. Louis just off of I-70! I don't have any chickens yet, but have the lumber, or most of it, for the coop next spring and hope to have it up and done by June and the chicks ordered and in the brooder by May. You will LOVE this site, everyone is wonderful, we talk about a lot of different things and the moderators are great about keeping us in line!!

I am also new to the site., and new to raising chickens. I just got my 9 chicks from mypetchicken.com
I am very happy, they are so beautiful they where hatched on Oct. 17. I received them on Oct. 19 and to now, 10 days later, what a difference
they seem to grow so very fast. My husband and son are building a chicken coop for them. When I was searching on the internet I came about this site, and I saw how informative it was, and I saw some of the chicken coops that their members had done and I took some hints for our coop. Which hopefully will be done soon.
by the way, my name is also, Laura
