Hello! We currently do not have any chickens of our own but I am learning all I can from my niece who has her own flock. We will not be ready to get any for about another year. My main goal now is to learn and gather information so I can provide our chickens with the best home and care possible.
Breeds I am interested in are faverolles and Easter eggers. Of course I want good layers but I really want friendly social chickens as well, as they will be part of the family.
We have a garden shed which we will convert part of into their home with a nice big enclosed run off the back and we will let them roam the yard under supervision as well.
Right now we are building our new home. It’s a diy project as we are doing it ourselves. We hope to be in by next spring. That’s why we have a hold on getting our own flock.
My husband and I live in Nova Scotia with our 2 dogs and 4 cats.
Looking forward to getting to know everyone and learning as much as I can :)

I have both Faverolles and Easter Eggers, and I think you should be pleased with both. They are beautifully fluffy-faced sweeties who are pretty reliable layers. Mine adore me WHEN I feed them grapes as treats. Good luck with yours. Sounds like you will be ready!!

Welcome to BYC!
