Hello from Oakland!

Coop is functional! There are a few cosmetic things that need to be done (completing the fenced outdoor run for free-ranging, upgraded eggbox, and siding for the inside panel, along with auto feeders + waterers). The refugee chickens spent their first night and I already have a bunch of eggs! (impressive because it's winter, plus they are older birds 5+ yrs).

Installed windows today, I didn't realize the ladies would love them as much as I do!

Also got the roll away nest box installed! (there is an egg-eater amongst them) That given, I've already collected 9 eggs in 4 days! Most of these hens are 7-9 years old and it's winter here!!

Love the update and the window looks great so funny and cute to see them poking their heads out. I hope the roll-away works well for you!

The roll away is already working! Picked up 2 more eggs from these over achievers this morning! I guess because the roof is clear and letting more light in maybe thats why they're still producing eggs? It's impressive!

Hi! Thanks for joining BYC! Looks to me like you are starting out the right way! As a fellow forest dweller, who lost 3 hens to a bald eagle a couple years ago, and now has fort knox for her chickens, I'm so happy to hear you are doing it right from the start.
