(1) Super new to chickens. Haven't purchased any yet. Want to do good research on the correct breeds and how to successfully care for them.

(2) how many chickens? zero

(3)Breeds of. chickens? Looking for the best breeds for NE Oklahoma. Like Wyandotte's but not sure how they will do with our heat. Our land is up high and heavily wooded, but it is still Oklahoma.

(4) What do I like best? Not sure yet. Hubby wants eggs, I want meat (I'm very allergic to eggs) and some birds that are attractive and I enjoy having at our home.

(5) Hobbies? I like to garden, cook, mess with the dogs, and learn new things.

(6) About. me? I'm retired and a stay at home dog mom. We currently have 4 dogs, down from 8 by attrition. One dog (GSD) is a retired war dog having spent 5.5 years in Kuwait working boarder control, our bloodhound is a certified Search and Rescue trailing K9. our Havanese George is just cute and my velcro boy, our female mini schnauzer is now 15 and the sweetest girl. We are planing on having dairy goats (with a guardian animal), Guinea fowl and maybe a couple of pigs along with a few chickens.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC? I saw someone mention it on facebook. What made me go ahead and join? the seller accepted our offer on 60 acres.
