I just joined BYC today in hopes to find out some info. I'm looking into building a new coop for my wife. We just lost 3 girls due to the steady 112-115 degree heat here in Oklahoma. They have plenty of shade and water. Then the very next day while I'm at work my wife calls me in tears telling me all 14 of our girls have been taken by something (I will find out what and fix the problem)!!! So first on my list is to put up a bigger fence! Anyway I am just checking in and saying hey! I will be posting in the forums soon.

! I know what you mean about the heat. Not quite as bad here but still no picnic. Did I read your post right? You're building a coop for your wife?? How does she feel about that??

Have a look in the Coops section and the Predators & Pests section for tips on how to make a coop and run predator proof. Good luck!

Randall sorry to hear about your losses. I am from Oklahoma too and have been worried about my girls in this terrible heat. Hope you find a good solution for your coop.
