This is a great site ! I'm looking for idias to build a coop to house abot 15 silkies. Any advice on how big it should be ? They free range in a 20' x10' pen during the day. Thanks for any advice !! Thanks , Jan

It is suggested that you allow 4sq feet per bird inside the coop and 10sq feet per bird in the run.

Hi and

60 sq ft. would be about right. Although I suppose the coop doesn't have to be so big if they have a pen area to roam around in. Our coop isn't huge, but our hens free range during the day.
