Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. If you see Phil, tell him "hello" for us. :o) If you haven't done so already, definitely check out our Learning Center at https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center. There is loads of useful information there. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Cheers.

Hi, welcome to BYC!

Funny, you are about the 4th new member from PA I've welcomed today...is everyone in Pennsylvania getting chickens this very moment, lol? Here's your state thread if you would like to go say hi to other PA members:

Nice to have you with us!

It was about 3 months ago my wife went to the local market and saw eggs for $5/dozen. We eat quite a few eggs so it was a bit of a shock. Friends who have chickens talked us into it (they didn't have to talk to long) :)
I enjoyed building our coop and we are using the old hand built dog kennel for an enclosure. We've had our chickens, 6, for almost a week and I find myself going to the pen just to watch them. I think I'm going to enjoy this :)
Drumstick diva & Michael Oshay, I've never seen "Phil" never been to Gobblers Knob never been to the annual Groundhog Festival. And have no desire to :) Punxytawney is a very small town that once a year for a few days, turns into "party town" and its difficult to even drive through it. No, that isn't for an ole country boy like me.
Thank you all for the welcome :)
