It was about 3 months ago my wife went to the local market and saw eggs for $5/dozen. We eat quite a few eggs so it was a bit of a shock. Friends who have chickens talked us into it (they didn't have to talk to long)
I enjoyed building our coop and we are using the old hand built dog kennel for an enclosure. We've had our chickens, 6, for almost a week and I find myself going to the pen just to watch them. I think I'm going to enjoy this
