Hello! I've been utilizing this site for months and finally decided it was time to join. I've currently got 6 Buff Orpingtons and 4 Plymouth Barred Rocks. All were acquired in May and so far only 3 are laying. Still trying to see if any are roosters, I keep finding conflicting information about combs and wattles. Some days I think I have 10 hens, other days 7. Looking forward to talking with everyone here.

Thank you for the welcomes. I will post some pics of my "girls" on the recommended forum to see if I can get help on their gender.

Thanks again for the welcomes and now I've lost a hen this morning! I posted under the forum "Post mortem....." Any help on possible cause of death would be helpful. I'm thinking she strained laying an egg but am wondering if all the hens being in the coop would have added strain to her laying. She was found in front of the nesting box and the egg was near her butt in front of the box. She was one that didn't always lay in the box. Was acting fine yesterday....she was the one I thought was a rooster. I guess she showed me but oh I'm so sad this morning and worried about the other girls.
