I'm new to chickens. My flock consists of: Mrs. Howell (blue cochin), Ginger (speckled sussed) and Mary Ann (black australorp). I picked them up when they were 7-8weeks old. The dog had to donate her house for temporary digs while I built the tikicoop(she sleeps on the couch anyway). They are now about 17-18 weeks old and Mary Ann has outgrown the other two. She has recently started an atempt at crowing in the morning which made me think she might be a Mary Andy instead. After reading up on it, I think it's just because she's the dominant hen. I'm hoping it will stop when they start laying, which should be any day now.
