Hello from San Francisco!

New to BYC. I moved into a new house last March and the house came with a coop as well as three chickens! Unfortunately we lost one to old age, and last month I lost the last two from a raccoon attack. I miss my ladies so much. Just placed an order for 12 chicks that will arrive in early April.

Where is a good spot to post pictures of my coop and run to get ideas on improvements? I never want to give the raccoons in my area a free meal again!

Electric fence would be good for raccoons, but is it safe for my roommates dog?

I'm also a college student so I try to build what I can from stuff I can get for free.

The electric fence might keep your roommate's dog from killing the chickens.

True. The dogs are medium sized and did good with the hens we had last year. I also have a large run for the ladies and can keep the dogs inside for a few hours while they run around the yard
