Hello from South Africa

[SA newbie]

Hi all! My name is Liesl and I'm from South Africa and am just getting into the chicken thing! Got my first BA's this past weekend ( Holly, Fat feathers and Cocky) named by my 9 year old son! We live on a small farm 12 acres in the north of the country. Getting 100 chicks at the end of the month - Boschveld- and 20 12 week hens and3 cocks! Want to breed a little to increase numbers to sell for eggs and meat! Hubby and I are archaeologists doing contract work, but since the recession work has been a bit quiet so we started a market garden- its Spring here now- and now the chickens to earn a side income! Already learnt a lot from some of the posts and hope to learn more! Cheers for now!
