I just noticed this thread. I'm in Wampee, which is on the other side of the intracoastal waterway from North Myrtle Beach. Hello to everyone! Now I guess I'll go check on the chickens since this storm has passed. Boy did we need the rain!

You got rain??? Awesome. I wish we could get some! Maybe a shower today, if we are really, really lucky.

LuckysMom,
there seem to be some others close to you. I know there is someone at the edge of NC right there but not sure if she is on this forum.
I am waaaay across the state from you but next to the NC line.

Jadude,
wish I had somewhere to put more black sex links. I like the 4 I have and am thinking about getting more but DH is wanting more Welsummers and some Araconas. Our place is filling up and we need to build coops a lot quicker.

Hi all: (I'm posting this in more than one thread; sorry if you've read this elsewhere!)

I don't have chickens *yet* but I've been reading about it and would really like to. Problem is, we want to move to York/Lancaster county as close to Charlotte as possible. Seems like the entire area is covered with little houses made of ticky-tacky that don't allow chickens due to the HOA. (Besides, most homes are now built on .15 acres.)

Is anyone aware of a subdivision or neighborhood in the Fort Mill general area that allows chickens?

The answer is worth its weight in gold to me. TIA.

Wish I could help you out but I never go over to that area.
We do have a house for sale in the Greenville/Taylors area that allows chickens but it is also on about 1/4 acre. It is the house I grew up in but I need more breathing room. Funny, when I was growing up I thought I lived in the country! Once grown I realized it was way too small.

Now we have more acreage than we can take care of and wouldn't you know that someone came in and built 10 ft off our property line when they have several acres, too? Geez! Thank goodness we put our house in the middle of our land!

So are you more towards Lugoff?
My sister lives in Chapin on Lake Murray. Guess where we spend 4th of July? The fireworks over the lake are beautiful. And swimming after you eat all that juicy watermelon is something else. Gotta wash it off somehow.

If you guys still check this thread, Hello! My son was up at Lake Murray for the fireworks with his girlfriend who just moved up there to go back to get her master's at USC; she will be teaching school at Lugoff.
And my brother-in-law lives in Chapin on Lake Murray. Somewhere. Big lake!
DS said the fireworks there are supposed to be the most elaborate in the state on the 4th. No doubt.

Yeah, I check in every day to see who in SC might be talking chickens or what not.

It was certainly hot enough on the 4th but we didn't stay for the fireworks this time on Lake Murray. Too many chicken chores now so we skedaddled on home before it got dark to put everyone up in the coop. The lake is really up this year. Funny, since all our lakes here in the upstate are practically dry! But Lake Murray had been down for quite a while so they could work on the dam. It is a big lake.

My nephew and his wife are moving back to Chapin now from the North Charleston/Summerville area and she will be teaching school somewhere in that area but graduated from Converse up here in Spartanburg. I was always bummed they didn't go to USC, he went to Clemson.
There goes my summer visits to the beach with free lodging. LOL
