NC country girl Laura,
you get the best of both coasts living in NC and claiming SC, too. We are beach addicts as much as some are chicken addicts. Haven't been in a few years but are planning some major trips in the next few years. Gotta show the DH how marvelous the Outer Banks are since I have drug him up and down the SC beaches for the past 25 years. Charleston has so much we are still exploring but there are tons of wonderful history stories in both states!
I think I was a beach bum in a former life.

Wow This thread has grown quite a bit while I was busy in the yard!!
So glad to see there are chicken people in SC too as I have never seen or met anyone around here with chickens.
Are there any poultry shows or auctions around here??
My DH is from California and I'm not even from the US, but we really are making it at home here in SC (it's been great 5 years

What part of CA is your hubby from? I grew up in the San Diego area......we have been in SC since 93.....love it here.
Tink

tink- He is from northern Ca. Small town called Willows near Chico.

We have several friends from California here but they say they can never get use to the humidity.
Well we don't mind humidity but I am so deathly afraid of fire ants!! lol

Fire ants! We have been tracking them coming north and east from Texas for years.
DE will control them. Takes a lot of diligence, but you can kill them naturally with DE. Diatomaceous Earth-Food Grade

I grew up in your county and don't live too far from ya now. Is that store still open there where you can get such a good deal on boots?? I've been wanting to make the drive, but someone told me they had closed.
